I know we've all wanted something that we didn't or felt like couldn't have. We're human. Have you ever got it and been like, what the hell... did I ever want this for?
Let's get personal. I've worked with a co-worker and I couldn't believe I made it through the school year with her. I thought she was mean, grumpy, and just straight up rude. She behaved this towards me, the children, and maybe towards the other co-workers. I say maybe because, honestly I never paid too much attention to how she act outside the classroom. I'm not the type of person to care top much about "a personality". Yes your personality is who you are, but also there's a time when you have to adjust that personality. Work is definitely a place where it is time to adjust your personality to your surroundings. I am the type of person who is big on respect, and you may have heard that 1,001 times, so have I. There is actually some of us, that is. I feel because, I am so big on respect, meaning I will never just be rude to someone because that's how I'm feeling that day. I'm not being mean to someone, because I upset with someone that day. I'm still going to put on a smile and you'd never know. So, once someone start disrespecting without a reason, oh we are going, head for head, toe for toe, arm for arm, what is it our parents use to say?
I believe people think, people who has the same mentality are "weak". I know I'm not weak I just don't feel the need to go and show that I can be disrespectful. I'm not receiving any benefits from that.
I couldn't wait for the summer. I could't wait to get away from my co-worker. Then here come's another school year. I was excited to see the children again. but to come back and work with her? Absolutely not. Then... I learned I would be working with a different staff member with a different group of children, kindergarten!
I loved it! I loved working with my new co-worker, I loved the children. I felt like, "this is where I am supposed to be!"We got along well, agreed on a lot of things, she was respectful and you know I loved that. Dun dun dunnnnnn!!!!! Of course that only lasted for so long. Me and my new co-worker clashed so much! I felt like I was in competition instead of working together. I use to go into work, tensed and stressed because I knew what the day was going to bring, on top of 25 kindergarteners. The day was just too much sometimes. I felt like I complained more than I complained the year before. I missed my old worker so much I thought all the time, be careful what you wish for. Also, it seemed like me and my old co-worker grew closer and closer over the summer. How? I have no clue. We talk, greet each other in the morning, she need any help she knows she can ask, and vice versa.
Be careful what you wish for, the grass isn't always green on the other side.
